Distinguished Research Professor David Sinclair was among the 125 new appointments to the Order of Canada, in an announcement made by the Governor of Canada on December 29, 2017.
Created in 1967, the Order of Canada, one of our country’s highest civilian honours, recognizes outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation.
Dr. Sinclair was appointed "for his exceptional contributions to the field of experimental sub-atomic physics and for his leadership as a founding director of the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory project."
Dr. Sinclair joined the Department of Physics at Carleton University in September 1999. He played a key role in the development and construction of the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory, and was the SNO Institute's founding director.
