Faculty of Science Teaching Awards

Each year we celebrate excellence in teaching within our own faculty by awarding Faculty of Science Teaching Awards. These awards are independent of other awards at Carleton and are announced at the Faculty of Science Holiday Event in December. Up to three awards of $500 for professorial faculty and up to two awards of $500 for contract instructors can be made each year.

Nominations for these awards may come from departmental tenure and promotion committees or from a colleague within Science. The Faculty of Science Chairs and Directors Committee will review the nominations and select the awardees.

A nomination letter should be no more than two pages in length and should include the reasons for the nomination, including (as applicable) examples of the nominee’s achievements and initiatives, any student comments about the nominee, any publications/papers on teaching produced by the nominee, and other teaching awards received by the nominee.  Please note that the Dean’s Office will provide the nominees’ Teaching Evaluations to the Faculty committee.

Please send your nomination to the Office of the Dean of Science (odscienceatcarleton [dot] ca) in the Office of the Dean of Science by November 30.
