Sustainability in Action – Earth Hour 2019
Earth Hour is Saturday, March 30, from 8:30 to 9.30 p.m. and members of the Carleton community are being encouraged to take part. In addition to turning lights out on the night, everyone is kindly asked to turn the lights out and unplug unnecessary electrical goods before leaving for the weekend.
This is part of a global statement of concern over climate change and a commitment to both reducing our individual impact and finding practical solutions to environmental issues. As a university, we have set a long-term target to be carbon neutral by 2050 and to date, our carbon emissions intensity has decreased by 35% from a 2005 baseline.
During Earth Hour, Facilities Management and Planning will also be reducing accent lighting across campus.
