Carleton Science invites you to an interactive workshop hosted by Lane Bourbonnière (Indigenous Curriculum & Development Specialist, Centre for Indigenous Support and Community Engagement) and Krista Craven (Equity and Inclusion Learning Specialist, Department of Equity and Inclusive Communities).
This workshop, Enhancing Meaningful and Inclusive Mentoring in Science, is designed to support faculty in strengthening their mentorship skills. Frameworks and related practices for meaningful mentoring (Sanzero Eller, Liv, & Feurer, 2013) and equity-driven and inclusive mentoring (Rawlinson & Willimott, 2016) will be presented.
There will also be a focus on how to support students through Indigenous pedagogical approaches. The event will be anchored in case studies informed by science students’ experiences at Carleton. There will be opportunities for individual reflection and group discussion towards enhancing your mentorship abilities.
This event is part of the ACE EDI Event Series, which aims to increase Awareness, Collaboration, and Engagement, and advance EDI efforts in the Faculty of Science.
