As part of Carleton University’s annual Throwback celebrations, we’re excited to invite the Carleton Science student, staff, faculty and alumni community to an evening of science, innovation and discovery on Thursday, October 1, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.
Join us for an evening featuring a talk by Carleton alum and entrepreneur Jason Flick, interactive demonstrations and opportunities to explore innovative technology and facilities across the Faculty of Science.
Event Schedule
5:30PM – Explore the Science Showcase
Location: Health Sciences Building Atrium
Get a behind-the-scenes look at some of the people, technology and facilities that make Carleton Science unique. Visit the Kessler Observatory for a look at Carleton’s astronomical facilities and explore the Vintage Computing Collection in the School of Computer Science, featuring around 90 historic microcomputers and other artifacts. More interactive demonstrations and showcases from across the Faculty will also be featured throughout the evening.
6:30PM – Keynote Address: Science to Startups: Ottawa Then and Now by Jason Flick
Location: Health Sciences Building, Room 1301
Jason Flick is a Canadian entrepreneur, investor, mentor and Carleton Science alumni with nearly three decades of experience building technology companies. He founded and led Ottawa-based You.i TV, which grew into a global technology platform before being acquired by HBO/AT&T.
Today, Jason is helping Canadian technology businesses think bigger and compete globally. He has served on the Invest Ottawa board for more than 16 years as part of his committed to supporting Ottawa’s entrepreneurs and technology community.
We hope you will join us for what promises to be an inspiring evening as Jason shares lessons from his entrepreneurial journey and his perspective on building Canadian technology companies for a global audience!
