Carleton Science remembers Prof. Chul Gyu Park
The Faculty of Science at Carleton University is mourning the loss of Chul Gyu Park, Associate Professor in the School of Mathematics and Statistics, who passed away in June 2020 after a long battle with illness.
Prof. Park, who received his PhD in Statistics from the University of Iowa, came to Carleton in 2002. Most recently, he taught undergraduate and graduate classes in statistical modeling, regression analysis, mathematical statistics and more.
His areas of research interest included order restricted inference, dependent data analysis, ordered categorical data analysis, constrained estimation, generation of dependent random variables, and measurement error.
“We had long been hopeful that Chul Gyu Park would make a full recovery,” said Chuck Macdonald, Dean of the Faculty of Science. “Instead, we have lost an excellent member of our teaching and research community. He will be missed.”
