Join Carleton Science and Dr. Alexandra Pedersen, Manager for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Indigenization (EDII) Capacity Development at the McDonald Institute, for the next ACE EDI event: Reimagining Equity in Research Ecosystems With the DEAP Tool for Researchers.
The Diversity and Equity Assessment and Planning (DEAP) Tool for Researchers supports faculty in assessing and improving equity, diversity, inclusion, and Indigenization (EDII) within their research environments. Co-developed by the Arthur B. McDonald Canadian Astroparticle Physics Research Institute, the Tool provides a structured framework for reflection and action planning, particularly in laboratory-based and collaborative research settings. In recognizing what works for astroparticle physicists may not work for every discipline, the DEAP Tool for Researchers requires adaptation for discipline-specific environments.
You are invited to attend an interactive workshop to reimagine the DEAP Tool for use within your own research context and space. Rather than applying the Tool as a static framework, participants will be guided through a process of translating 14 indicators into the realities of their own research environments. This workshop emphasizes a co-creative approach, supporting researchers in identifying friction points, adapting indicators, and developing context-specific goals for actionable takeaways.
