Associate Dean, Graduate Affairs
Associate Dean (Graduate Affairs) supports, facilitates, and oversees all aspects of graduate studies and PDF affairs for FS. Assists FS Dean on policies, priorities, planning, and budget relating to grad studies and PDF affairs. Also oversees and supports all Carleton activities/programs sponsored by the Fields Institute.
Main Responsibilities:
- Works closely with Science units on graduate curriculum development
- Works closely with departmental Graduate Supervisors on graduate admissions, recruitment and funding (including TAs)
- Oversees major graduate and postdoctoral external and internal awards
- Represents the Faculty of Science on various university committees regarding graduate and postdoctoral affairs
- Liaises with Associate Deans from other faculties regarding graduate affairs
- Promotes graduate student experiential learning and employability through existing or new opportunities and programs
- Oversees and supports Fields-Carleton Postdoctoral program and Distinguished Lecture Series, the General Scientific Activities program, and others
- Provides support to graduate students and postdoctoral students in Science
