A Message from the Dean of Science

It’s been a few years since our last issue, and in that time, Carleton Science has experienced a remarkable period of growth.

From new programs and facilities to expanded ways of sharing our stories, there has been much to celebrate, making this an especially meaningful moment to reconnect through Eureka!.

One of our most exciting milestones is the launch of Ontario’s first new university nursing program in over 20 years, which welcomed its inaugural cohort in September 2025. This program is part of a broader expansion designed to prepare students for high-demand, future-focused careers in tech and health. As of September 2025, we introduced five new programs: a Masters in Biotechnology, Bachelor of Science Nursing with RN Prescribing, Bachelor of Data Science, Bachelor of Cybersecurity, and an MSc in Clinical Trials and Regulatory Affairs.

In January 2026, we also opened the Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre in the Kanata Tech Park. This state-of-the-art facility is where current and future nursing students will develop strong clinical skills in a safe, hands-on learning environment.

This issue also marks an exciting first: the launch of Eureka! as a fully digital publication. This new format allows us to reach a wider audience and share the outstanding work, people, and breakthroughs within the Faculty of Science in a more accessible way than ever before.

We are incredibly proud of how far our Carleton Science community has come and I thank you for following along. I hope you enjoy this Spring 2026 edition of Eureka! Magazine.

Sincerely,
