Program Co-op Options

Most of our Honours degree programs offer 12 months or more of co-operative education in local and provincial businesses and industries, providing students with the opportunity to put theory into practice.

Fieldwork and Field Camps

With many of our programs offering field work or field camps, the outdoors could also become your classroom.

Research Opportunities

Carleton Science students enjoy many opportunities to pursue research interests alongside award-winning teachers and leading scientific researchers.

Carleton science professors and students are part of an extensive network of scientists from around the world who work together. As a science student, you could become part of these exciting collaborations and have the opportunity to engage in some of the world-class research carried out by Carleton professors.

Dean’s Summer Research Internships

Every year, the Dean of Science offers paid summer research internships to top first-year science, computer science and mathematics students. These Dean’s Summer Research Internships (DSRIs) afford students the opportunity to work with professors to conduct research. Currently, students who receive these competitive research internships will be paid about $5880 ($14/hour for 12 weeks @ 35 hours/week) to work with a professor in the Faculty of Science.

To be eligible, students must have first-year standing and be enrolled full-time, with an overall GPA of 10.0 or higher at the end of their first term of study. Applications are invited each year, with a mid-February submission deadline.
