There are many opportunities for undergraduate students in Science to engage with research at Carleton University, or even at one of our partnered organizations. The Dean of Science supports two paid research opportunities: The Dean’s Summer Research Internship (DSRI) and the Black and Indigenous Student Research Internship (BISRI).  The BISRI may be also combined with a summer NSERC USRA.

Find out more about each of these opportunities below:

SSSC Support

The Science Student Success Centre (SSSC) organizes a few activities to help students prepare for these summer research opportunities, including an evening Research Mixer, where several faculty members will be present to discuss their research. This is a great opportunity for students to learn about the types of research being done on campus and to talk with professors about doing a DSRI in their lab. The SSSC will also be sharing expert advice about writing applications for research grants and awards in the sciences. Students can bring a draft of their application to a SSSC workshop and the presenters will review it one-on-one to help it stand out from the crowd. Check out the SSSC website for more details in January.
